The central screen, which is three times brighter and 48 percent larger than the previous 10-inch screen, complements a new, available 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display6 with enhanced graphics and a configurable layout for full-screen navigation mapping with turn-by-turn instructions, digital dials, media, contact list or infotainment details. Full-screen 3D mapping is available with additional overlays for elements ranging from turn-by-turn instructions to compass bearings and places of interest. Working in conjunction with the latest optional Head-up Display6 technology, F-PACE reduces added distraction.
Authentic finishes, including open-pore wood veneers and aluminum, feature in beautifully formed shapes such as the upper door insert and full width 'Piano lid' that is formed across the width of the instrument panel. Laser-etched mid-line speaker frets and the metallic rotary dial of the JaguarDrive Control epitomize meticulous detailing. The Drive Selector is a beautiful detail inspired by British craftsmanship, with an upper section finished with 'cricket-ball' stitching and the lower section composed of precision-engineered metal for enhanced tactility. Premium materials create a more striking cabin and enhance the sense of comfort, space and refinement. Soft-touch materials have been used more extensively with the instrument panel topper, door armrests, console sides and door bins all wrapped for increased tactility.
Occupant comfort is enhanced through interior design that emphasizes the width of the cabin. A new center console sweeps up to the instrument panel and incorporates a wireless charger and greater stowage. F-PACE introduces new seats that feature wider cushioning, massage functions, and enhanced coverage of the heated and cooling areas. Special touches are incorporated throughout the interior, including the Jaguar Leaper embossed on all occupant headrests on selected models, and a set of 'Est.1935 Jaguar Coventry' upholstery tags that highlight the brand's heritage.
This uplift in luxury has been applied across the new interior lighting with an upper strip of light encircling the front of the cabin, while a lower lighting zone uses a softer waterfall effect. Available as standard, the system provides occupants with a choice of ten colors. Occupant wellbeing has been enhanced with the addition of the latest technologies to deliver a calmer and more comfortable travelling experience. F-PACE introduces Active Road Noise Cancellation to the Jaguar family. The technology constantly monitors vibrations from the road surface and calculates the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by the occupants. The results are quieter noise levels within the cabin for superior refinement. . Engine Noise Cancellation helps isolate the cabin from unwanted engine noise to further enhance the sense of tranquility.4
R-Dynamic interior specification provides a more dynamic appearance across the cabin. Additions include R-Dynamic sports seats in Mars Red, Siena Tan, Ebony or Light Oyster, complemented by Ebony headlining and an Ebony steering wheel with 'R' badging. On R-Dynamic vehicles, rich accent colors twin with the sporty ebony black environment and authentic aluminum finishes.
Cutting-edge connected technologies and convenience
The new F-PACE introduces Jaguar's advanced Electronic Vehicle Architecture, dubbed EVA 2.0, which supports a range of new technologies to ensure connectivity over time. The collection of new convenience technologies includes Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) capability, which ensures the performance SUV is updated with the latest software without the need for a retailer visit.
"The new F-PACE has a world-class interior and is future-proofed for the 21st century, using the latest technologies to optimize efficiency, enhance capability and revolutionize connectivity," said Alex Heslop, Director of Electronics and Software, Jaguar Land Rover.
EVA 2.0 is key to the operation of the Pivi Pro infotainment system, which has a dedicated power source to enable instantaneous start-up. System connectivity is provided by the latest embedded dual-sim technology with two LTE modems that enable the system to carry out multiple functions at the same time, such as streaming media and downloading SOTA updates, without compromising performance. The cutting-edge connectivity also ensures minimal interruptions caused by coverage blackspots as it roams across network providers for the strongest signal.1
Driver assistance technology is enhanced by newly available Clear Exit Monitor, which alerts both front and rear occupants to the presence of an approaching car or cyclist when exiting the vehicle. Blind Spot Assist with Rear Traffic Monitor is standard on all F-PACE models.4 The standard 3D Surround Camera delivers advanced functionality using the latest camera technology in Junction View, 3D Perspective View, and ClearSight Plan View, with real-time viewing when maneuvering.
For 2021, greater convenience comes standard. Heated seats, keyless entry and a 14-speaker Meridian(TM) sound system with Sirius XM radio functionality are included on all F-PACE models. For enhanced convenience, the second-generation wearable Activity Key can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle without the need for the conventional key fob to be present in the vehicle. The rechargeable device incorporates a watch and has a battery life of seven days between charges. Optional cabin Air Ionization improves interior air quality at the push of the "Purify" button through Nanoe(TM) technology. The system features PM2.5 filtration, which captures ultra-fine particles, including PM2.5 particulates, to improve occupant comfort and sense of wellbeing.
Engineered for performance and efficiency gains
For 2021, F-PACE is available in the United States with three gasoline-powered engine options, each sending power through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all wheels-including two mild-hybrid (MHEV) options:
246hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (F-PACE 250, S 250)
335hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged six-cylinder MHEV (S 340)
395hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged six-cylinder MHEV (R-DYNAMIC S 400)
Advanced MHEV technology featured on the six-cylinder powertrains uses a Belt integrated Starter Generator (BiSG) to harvest energy usually lost when slowing and braking. This energy is then stored in a separate 48V lithium-ion battery before being intelligently redeployed to assist the engine when accelerating away, as well as delivering a more refined stop/start system. Both six-cylinder MHEV engines feature an electric supercharger supported by a twin scroll turbocharger and Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL), for a strong combination of refined performance and efficiency. The 395-hp F-PACE R-DYNAMIC S 400 is capable of 0 to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds.2
The 246hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine produces 269 lb-ft. of torque, and it propels F-PACE from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds.2 This engine also features the intelligent CVVL system which works alongside variable cam timing (VCT) technology to enable complete control of engine air-intake, optimizing performance. It uses the twin-scroll turbocharger with low friction bearings for reduced friction and improved responses. The turbocharger is fed by an integrated exhaust manifold, which reduces weight. A water-cooled charge air cooler is fitted instead of a standard air-based intercooler as it is more effective in reducing the intake air temperature.
All engines are paired with Jaguar's eight-speed automatic gearbox, which can be controlled using the steering wheel shift paddles for added driver engagement. All-wheel drive is standard across all F-PACE models and Intelligent Driveline Dynamics provides rear-wheel drive biased performance, with the ability to vary torque to individual axles almost instantly depending on conditions. JaguarDrive Control features selectable Comfort, Eco, Rain-Ice-Snow and Dynamic modes, which can be confirmed by the driver through a new rotary dial next to the all-new JaguarDrive Selector(TM), adapt steering, transmission, throttle and (when specified) Adaptive Dynamics settings.4
The new F-PACE chassis has been updated to support the introduction of the new electrified engines as well as enabling the latest JaguarDrive Control and new Auto Vehicle Hold. Auto Vehicle Hold provides added convenience and smoother operation than conventional Automatic Hill Hold. The new technology holds the brakes when F-PACE is stationary, until the driver depresses the accelerator to drive away.4
Jaguar's commitment to creating strong and lightweight vehicles continues with the new F-PACE. The aluminum-intensive architecture uses recycled aluminum from closed-loop manufacturing for greater sustainability and is an important contribution towards Jaguar's journey to Destination Zero, a world of zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion.
