For many, a car is an emotional purchase. The way a car performs on the road can make all the difference between basic transportation and the emotional reward of a fantastic driving experience. To help gauge the relative driving performance of vehicles in perspective to one another, we have created our own proprietary Velocity Performance index.

Since the term "performance" has wildly different meanings from driver to driver, our ranking system produces a guideline number for each vehicle that blends power, packaging, handling, and stopping attributes. This number can be beneficial in highlighting significant differences from vehicle to vehicle.

Keep in mind that great cars are more than the sum of their parts. Mechanical variances, operating conditions and your sensibilities will greatly affect the "seat of the pants" results of comparing any two cars head-to-head. That's all part of the fun.
