The Sportage is Kia's entry-level compact SUV vehicle. The original Sportage was a body-on-frame truck-based SUV. The modern Sportage is more of a crossover vehicle. Available in FWD and AWD configurations, Sportage offers a choice of 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engines. While not as handsome as its larger sibling the Sorento it does offer a fair amount of utility. The rear tailgate features flip-up glass. The rear seats fold flat creating a long load floor, and the front passenger seat can fold flat for hauling lengthy items. Priced from $16000 to the low twenties, Sportage offers a fair amount of value.
Sportage reappears sharing a platform with the 2005 Hyundai Tucson. Sportage will be offered in 2WD and 4WD versions. Engine choices in the US will include a 2.0L 4-cylinder and a 2.7L V6.
