The BMW lineup has gained another utility vehicle, the 5-Series Gran Turismo. This new model combines the ample proportions of the 7-Series sedan with a fastback/hatchback rear roof profile. Inside, there is two rows of seating for five. The rear hatch is features a unique dual hinged mechanism that opens below the rear glass like a traditional trunk and at the top of the glass like a hatchback. Several powertrains are offered including a turbocharged V8 with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW is expanding its lineup of utility vehicles to include the 5-Series Gran Turismo. The Gran Turismo is a 5-door hatchback with a dual-hinged tailgate and seating for five. Despite the 5-series name, the Gran Turismo is dimensionally identical to the short wheelbase 7-Series sedan. A number of engines are offered worldwide including the 4.4L V8 turbo found in the 7-Series and BMW's ubiquitous 3.0L inline six.
