- 2008 New York International Auto Show
New York is the final major 2008 auto show in the US. This is the last opportunity for manufacturers to unveil new vehicles for the American market until the LA Auto Show in November. Acura revealed a larger TSX (based on the Japanese/European Accord). Honda showed a revamped version of the popular Fit subcompact. Nissan's sleek and chiseled new Maxima resurrected its "4DSC" moniker from the late 1980s. The FX50 SUV from Infiniti made its US debut. Suzuki showed its future midsize sedan plans with the Kizashi 3 concept sedan. Mercedes-Benz catered to its affluent East Coast clientele with an extensive selection of AMG performance models, while several new Bluetec diesel-equipped SUVs should prove to be popular. Pontiac's G8 GXP, G8 sport truck, and Solstice coupe continue the remaking of GM's performance division. Probably the biggest surprise was the Saleen S5S sports car concept, which may challenge the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo if it makes it into production.
